All Honors College scholarships require good standing in the Honors College in order to be renewed, if applicable.
Cole Excellence Awards | The Cole Excellence Awards are available to Honors College students to offset tuition and other costs of attending Michigan State University. These scholarships are intended to reward members who demonstrate academic excellence through a high cumulative GPA in a program enriched by Honors experiences. A number of one-year scholarships are awarded each year. Applications are due March 1. |
Gary L. Seevers Scholarships | The Gary L. Seevers Scholarship assists Honors College members who are majoring in an area offered by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Each year, two scholarships, renewable for four years, are awarded to incoming freshmen and two, one-year scholarships are awarded to continuing students. Applications are due March 1. |
Genevieve Gillette Fellowships | Each spring at least two students planning to produce a senior thesis or equivalent project are awarded Genevieve Gillette Fellowships to cover living expenses during the summer before the senior year. Depending on the availability of funds, consideration may be given to capstone projects which must be completed as a condition of graduation. Applications are due March 1. |
Honors College Alumni Scholarships | The Honors College Alumni Scholarships are intended to assist Honors College students with a record of excellence who demonstrate additional financial need. Both academic accomplishment, as evidenced by GPA and Honors course work, and financial need will be taken into consideration. Applications are due March 1. |
Honors College Conference Travel Award | Honors College Conference Travel Awards are available for MSU undergraduate students to present their research and creative products/projects at professional conferences. These funds are available to support travel for conference presentations of: (1) research or creative works conducted in close collaboration with an MSU faculty member or other qualified MSU research sponsor; and/or (2) a student’s original research or creative project, supervised by an MSU faculty mentor. |
Honors College Research Fund | The Honors College Research Fund allows exceptionally talented MSU undergraduates to conduct research in close collaboration with an MSU faculty member or other qualified MSU research sponsor. Proposals from all areas of the curriculum are welcome. Creative projects may also qualify for support if they contain a significant scholarly component. |
Hymen and Miriam Stein Scholarship | The Hymen and Miriam Stein Scholarship funds research by an Honors College student who proposes a substantial, interesting, and innovative senior thesis or project. The award funds the recipient’s living and research expenses and provides a scholarship during his or her senior year. Applications are due March 1. |
Cole International Study Award | The Jeffrey and Kathryn Cole International Study Award provides funds for Honors College members participating in study abroad programs. Applications are due March 1 for summer, fall, or academic year programs. |
Benschop International Enrichment Award | The John A. and Irma L. Benschop International Enrichment Award (for Study Abroad) helps defray travel expenses for Honors College members participating in international study programs. Applications are due October 15 for winter break, spring break and spring programs. |
Jeff and Diana Glass Endowed Scholarship | The Jeff and Diana Glass Endowed Scholarship assists Honors College members who participate in the Spartan Marching Band, the Concert Band, or the Symphonic Band. Awards will be made based on both overall academic accomplishment and musical ability. Scholarship decisions are made in the spring of every year. |
MLK, Jr. Advancing Inclusion Through Research Award | In an effort to build the body of work authored by students that supports the MSU and MLK, Jr. ideals of inclusive excellence, we encourage submission of MSU student research papers and creative projects on topics of inclusion, diversity, and marginalized populations. |
Reetz Family Honors College Endowed Scholarship | The Reetz Family Honors College Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a minimum of two students each year. Recipients shall be members in good standing of the Honors College who are also members of the Spartan Marching Band, the Spartan Brass, or who are Resident Advisors (RAs), or an equivalent position. Student recipients shall be individuals who are not receiving additional grant aid that provides full financial support. Scholarship decisions are made in the spring of every year. |
Schoenl Family Undergraduate Grants for Dire Needs Overseas | The purpose of the Schoenl Family Undergraduate Grant for Dire Needs Overseas is to identify and fund the most outstanding projects which will serve dire human needs in countries other than the U.S. The grants must be used within a 12-month period to make an impact that will help alleviate dire human needs. The amount awarded depends on available funds and project scope. Typical grant funding is $1,200 for a Level I award and $1,800 for a Level II award. Applications are due February 25. |
Walter and Pauline Adams Scholarships | The Walter and Pauline Adams Scholarships assist Honors College members with strong academic records and leadership ability who are planning careers in public service or the law. A number of one-year scholarships are awarded each year. Applications are due March 1. |
