On April 5, the Honors College held its Giving Back Awards, in which students were recognized for involvement in a local, national, or international community project or organization or a special Covid-19 responsive service.
Through the Giving Back Awards, the honors students were encouraged to reflect on and share their experiences working in their communities.
Finalists for the 2021-2022 academic year included Emma LaBarre, Erika Buhk, Zainab Fayyaz, Ceco Maples, and Madelyn Snider.
Snider won first place, winning a $1,500 Grand Prize for her service in immigration policy. She is double majoring in Social Relations and Policy and Spanish in the James Madison College.
Buhk won second place, winning a $750 Second Place Prize for her service at the Listen Ear Service. She is majoring in Human Biology and Psychology in the Lyman Briggs College.
Maples won third place, winning a $250 Third Place Prize for his service in building a community during COVID-19 through global and local service. He is majoring in Human Biology and Psychology in the Lyman Briggs College.
Honorable mentions were given to Emma LaBarre and Zainab Fayyaz.
