The Honors College advising team has welcomed a new member, Brett Binkowski.

Brett is an Honors College alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in history and global studies from Michigan State University, and a master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Ohio University.

Previously, Brett worked in various functional areas in higher education and student affairs at Ohio University, Ohio State University, and MSU’s College of Social Science.

He has returned to the Honors College to guide new generations of students.

Tell us why you wanted to be an academic advisor and a bit about your advising philosophy.

College is confusing. Life is confusing. I love helping students find their path to professional success and personal fulfillment.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

I look forward to working with students trying to make complex degree plans. Honors students do cool things, and making it happen feels like solving a puzzle!

Any fun facts?

I grew up playing Skyrim on Xbox and loved optimizing my skill tree. A lot like a degree audit! I was built for this career.

Honors College students can book an advising appointment with Brett or check the express advising schedule here.
