Competition Exam Page

The importance of this examination in the ADS Competition cannot be understated. It is imperative you complete the registration actions listed below to ensure your successful examination completion on test day. The practice exam must be completed by January 29 at 9:00 p.m. The Alumni Distinguished Scholarship exam will be taken on Jan. 30, 2021 between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you were unable to begin the exam at 10:30am on January 30, you may login to complete your 2-hour examination time as long as you are finished by 5 p.m. In other words, if you are starting the exam you must be logged in by 3 p.m. to have the full time allowed for the exam.

2021 ADS Examination Instructions

The 2021 competition exam instructions (pdf) have been provided by the MSU Testing Center below.


  1. Create MSU Guest Account: ADS candidates must create an MSU Guest Account to access the ADS Competition 2021 Examination Community in D2L. This process can take up to 15 minutes. 
  2. Self-Enroll in the ADS Competition: Once you have successfully created an MSU Account or MSU Guest Account, select the following link to self-enroll into the ADS Competition 2021 Examination Community in D2L.
  3. Complete the Practice Exam for ADS 2021 located in the ADS Competition 2021 Examination Community by January 29 at 9:00 p.m. Practice Exam instructions are available here.

*You must log in with your MSU Account / MSU Guest Account. For security reasons, the instructions to create a guest account will be in your email.



Mandatory Testing Requirements:

  1. PC or Mac Computer (Chromebook will not work)
  2. Stable internet connection
  3. Webcam (external or built-in)
  4. Personal identification w/picture (i.e.Driver’s License, School ID)
