Message from the Dean

Dean Jackson-Elmoore

To the MSU Honors College community,

I write to you today with a mixture of joy and sorrow. Joy because of the exciting news that I have accepted an appointment as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, Calif., effective Aug. 1, 2020. Sorrow because I will so deeply miss you all and the work that we do together. While I have not settled yet on an exact departure date from MSU, please know that I have been and will continue to work with the provost’s office to ensure a smooth transition and the continued vibrancy of the Honors College.

For more than a decade, the Honors College has been, and continues to be, a very important part of my life. The amazing students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and campus/community partners that I have been privileged to work and interact with have forever changed me for the better. I look back at the more than 25 years I have spent as part of the Spartan community and am so grateful to the dedicated and caring individuals I have had the pleasure of working with.

Thank you for the gift of your time, commitment, resources and belief in all that is the MSU Honors College.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, PhD
