MSU students have a history of success in national and international awards competitions – virtually every year, one or more of MSU’s talented students wins a major undergraduate scholarship or graduate fellowship. Much of this success is attributed to the mentoring and advising offered by dedicated faculty and staff at MSU.
Each year, the university and Honors College seek to encourage interested, talented, and appropriate students at MSU to apply for these awards. Professors, faculty mentors, research supervisors, and departmental advisors have direct contact with and knowledge of these exceptional students. The university relies on faculty and staff to identify and to promote the scholarships to their talented students.
To ensure success of MSU students, NIFS is committed to:
Fellowship Promotion
NIFS strives to make the entire university community aware of nationally competitive undergraduate scholarship and graduate fellowship opportunities. Through fellowship workshops, email announcements and direct student contact, NIFS aims to notify students and faculty of specific opportunities and create a more comprehensive understanding of the fellowship process in general.
Applicant Identification
Through collaboration with students, faculty and staff, NIFS works proactively to identify students whose qualifications and goals match specific fellowship opportunities and encourage them to apply for nationally competitive scholarships that support their professional goals and academic interests.
Student Mentoring
The fellowship application process offers a unique opportunity for applicants to produce a competitive application while providing students with exceptional opportunities for learning and personal development.
If you are aware of an MSU student who may be a good candidate for one of these awards, please contact the Dean of the Honors College or the Coordinator of National/International Fellowships and Scholarships with more information.
