The Academic Progress Plan

The Academic Progress (APP) has two primary functions: First, it records a student's course plans and adviser approval of those plans; second, it documents the nonstandard (as well as standard) ways in which an Honors College member has satisfied degree requirements. This second function becomes especially important when a student's program is reviewed just before graduation, since APPs provide the only official record of completion of the student's general education requirements.

All course selections must be approved—courses in the major area must be approved by a departmental Honors adviser, general education choices by an Honors College staff adviser. Students should have course selections approved in advance; those not approved before the student enrolls might not meet the requirements for which they were intended. With this official record of approved course selections, a student's program remains valid even if the student withdraws or is released from membership in the Honors College. That is, substitutions in the major area remain in effect and courses approved for general education will be applicable to requirements in their corresponding Integrative Studies areas, provided the relevant courses have been completed or are in progress at the time membership is terminated.

A student working toward two or more majors must have the APP approved by an Honors adviser in each major.
